At least 19 people were injured in a bus accident at Sungure in Chaurideurali Rural Municipality of Kavre district on Sunday.

According to District Police Office, Kavre, a preliminary investigation has revealed that the accident occurred after the brakes of the bus failed resulting in the accident.

Police informed that the accident took place at around 2 pm as the bus was en route to Kathmandu from Ramechhap.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhundi Raj Neupane, who is also the spokesperson at the District Police Office, informed that the condition of one of the injured is critical.

Neupane informed that three of the injured are being brought to Dhulikhel for further treatment and the condition of the other injured passengers are normal.

Police said that further investigation into the accident is underway.
