A girl from Mahakali Municipality in Darchula district died of dengue infection while undergoing treatment in India.

According to the Rastgriya Secondary School, a 14-year-old girl student, a resident of Dattu in the municipality, died on Saturday during treatment.

School Principal Rajesh Samant informed that the grade nine student complained of fever and was taken to the district hospital. A test conducted at the hospital came back positive for dengue.

The girl was then admitted at the district hospital and was discharged after her health condition improved.

However, the fever recurred while the teenager was at her home and she was taken to Haldwani in India for further treatment. She died at the hospital.

Samant informed that the school has been closed on Sunday to mourn the deceased student.
