India delivers second consignment of relief materials
China dispatches materials through the Jilong-Rasuwa Port.Post Report
India has delivered the second consignment of relief materials to the earthquake-affected people in Jajarkot and Rukum West, the two districts hit the hardest by the tremors on Friday midnight.
“The second flight carrying 9 tonnes of emergency relief assistance lands in Nepal,” India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote on X, previously Twitter, on Monday evening. “India’s support to Nepal remains strong and steadfast in this difficult hour.”
Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu Prasanna Shrivastava handed over the materials to Chief District Officer of Banke Shrawan Kumar Pokharel in Nepalgunj.
According to the embassy, the relief materials include tents, tarpaulins, sleeping bags and blankets.
Meanwhile, Nepal’s other immediate neighbour, China, has dispatched the materials through the Jilong-Rasuwa Port on Monday.
“The 100 million NPRs worth of disaster relief material from #CSACESRC, including 2,300 tents, 2,000 blankets, 700 tarpaulins, 500 sprayers entered Nepal through the Jilong-Rasuwa Port today,” Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song wrote on X. “Time is of the essence, those materials will be directly sent to the earthquake-affected people. More Chinese aid is on the way. Together we will overcome difficulties and rebuild our home.”
