A woman and her daughter were found dead in Maulapur Municipality-4 of Rautahat district on Saturday.

According to the Chief of Rautahat District Police Office Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur Budha Magar, the bodies of 24-year-old Kavita Devi alias Mala, and her two-year-old daughter were recovered from their residence.

The toddler was found hanging by a fan while Kavita’s body was found under the staircase that leads to the home’s entrance.

“Search for the victim’s husband, who has been out of contact, is underway,” Budha Magar said. “We have also summoned the victims' relatives for investigation.”

Kavita’s husband and father-in-law have been out of contact since the incident.

Bijaya Shankar, the woman’s father, claimed his daughter was constantly subjected to physical and mental abuse by her husband.
