Nepal set a target of 169 runs against Namibia in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 (2024-2027) being played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday.
A poor batting show had hosts Nepal, who were sent to bat first after losing the toss, bundled out for a total of 168 runs in 37.1 overs.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel scored a 16-ball 18 being caught leg-before by Bernard Scholz in 6.2 overs.
Anil Kumar Sah and Dev Khanal were both bowled for a duck in 6.4 and 7.6 overs respectively.
Wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh smashed eight hits to the fences and a six as he cracked his 12th ODI fifty. Sheikh played 64 knocks, scoring 58 runs, highest of the innings, before being dismissed in the same manner as his opening partner Bhurtel.
Likewise, Kushal Malla muscled a boundary and three sixes as he managed 36 runs off 52 balls. He was caught by Jack Brusell off Gerhard Erasmus in 26.3 overs.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel was next to go, being dismissed for a duck in 23.1 overs.
Bhim Sharki (26) and Karan KC (12) were the only other Nepali batters to score in double digits.
For the visitors, Bernard Scholtz and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton grabbed four wickets each while Jack Brassell and Gerhard Erasmus also dismissed a Nepali batter each.
Previously on February 15, the Rhinos had lost the inaugural match of the tri-series by four wickets to Namibia at the TU Cricket Ground.
Namibia then suffered a seven-wicket loss to the Netherlands, who were defeated by Nepal in the second match of the series. All three nations currently have two points each from a win off two matches played.
