At least one person died and two others were injured in a tractor accident in Salyan early on Wednesday.

The vehicle skidded and fell some 100 metres off the road, said Gopal Shrestha, information officer at the Salyan district police office.

The tractor was transporting cement bags from Tharmare in Bagchaur Municipality-2 to Thinbangjyula.

According to the police, 50-year-old Lal Bahadur BK died in the road mishap. Tractor driver Yubraj Rokaya, 24, and Kali Bahadur Rokaya, 45, sustained injuries.

BK was rushed to a local medical clinic for preliminary treatment. He lost his life on his way to the district hospital where he was being taken to for further treatment, police said.

Yubraj is receiving treatment in Nepalgunj while Kali Bahadur has been admitted to a Salyan-based hospital.
