The Kanchanpur chapter of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has enforced a strike in Mahendranagar on Saturday demanding police release those involved in the vandalism of the bust of martyr Bhimdutta Pant.
Most of the shops have been closed while only a few vehicles are plying the road due to the strike.
On Friday, the party held a rally in Mahendranagar demanding the reinstatement of the monarchy and the Hindu state. The bust of the martyr was vandalised during the protest. Police then arrested 18 people allegedly involved in the vandalism.
“The strike is for the unconditional release of our leaders and cadres. We will enforce an indefinite strike in Sudurpashim Province from tomorrow if our demand is not addressed,” said Gajendra Bahadur Chand, chair of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kanchanpur chapter.
