Police have arrested three youths with a weapon on the charge of demanding money from a man by giving him death threats.

The arrested are 33-year-old Nishcal Paudel, 35-year-old Ganesh Ghale and Pritam Chhetri, 30, of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-9.

According to police, the trio had fired at the house of Surya Prasad Paudel of Hetauda-9 and later demanded Rs10 million by giving him death threats through a telephone call.

The trio fired at the house on Tuesday as per the plan made by Nishcal, who is the nephew of Surya Prasad, said Police Inspector Sitaram Rijal.

Police seized an automatic pistol, its 19 bullets, two motorcycles, 200 grams of brown sugar, five mobiles and Rs50,000 among other things from their possession.

Police said the trio will be charged with attempt to murder, drug trade and illegal arms.
