Police arrested two accused on separate charges of raping minors in Bardiya district.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested from Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality on Wednesday on charge of raping a 14-year-old girl.

The accused had taken the victim to a house on January 21 where she was repeatedly raped, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Tulsiram Aryal, also the spokesperson at the district police office.

The boy had allegedly lured the victim by promising to marry her, police said.

Similarly, a 24-year-old man was also taken into custody for raping a 7-year-old girl.

According to Aryal, the accused had been on the run since the incident occurred on January 18. He was arrested in ward 2 of the Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality while hiding.

Further investigation into both cases are underway.
