One person died and another was injured in a road accident in Sunwal of Nawalparasi (West) on Friday morning.

According to the police, the accident occurred when a pick-up van and a cargo truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on in Sunwal Municipality-4 along the East-West Highway.

Deputy Superintendent Bhojraj Pandey, information officer at the District Police Office, Nawalparasi, said that the driver of the pick-up van, 52-year-old Raj Kumar BK, a resident of Shivnagar in Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan district died following the accident.

Seriously injured BK, who was taken to Parasi-based Prithvi Chandra Hospital, died while undergoing treatment, informed Pandey.

Meanwhile, Shiva Shrestha of Shivnagar in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, who was injured in the accident, is being treated at Devdaha Medical College in Rupandehi.
