KMC ward 16 chairman Mukunda Rijal passes away

Mukunda Rijal, Chairman of Ward no 16 of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has passed away.
Rijal was undergoing treatment for severe Pneumonia at the Tokha-based Grande International Hospital for the past five days.
According to a statement issued by the hospital, Rijal, who was receiving treatment at the hospital for viral Pneumonia infection in both of his lungs since September 3 died at 7:30am on Thursday.
The hospital informed that Rijal was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome where he died after developing Refractory Septic Shock and Acute Kidney Injury.
According to Basanta Adhikari, KMC’s Chief Administrative Officer, Rijal’s body will be kept at Rastriya Sabha Griha from 11am for final tributes.
“His funeral rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat later in the day,” said Adhikari.
Rijal, who is also the coordinator of the Infrastructure Committee of the City Executive, is also the Nepali Congress President of Kathmandu Constituency-7. This was Rijal’s second stint as the chairman of the Ward 16.
He was born on October 4, 1970, in Khanianbas of Dhading district.
