Police shoot alleged robber in Kathmandu

Police on Thursday opened fire on a man accused of robbery, at Gokarneshwar Municipality-3 in Kathmandu.
Amar Ghalan from Kamalamai Municipality of Sindhuli district, who has sustained bullet injuries in his right knee and thigh, is being treated at Nepal Medical College at Jorpati, said Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Mainali of Kathmandu Valley Police Office.
According to Mainali, a pistol with seven rounds of bullets was recovered from Ghalan’s possession.
Mainali said that Ghalan was shot and taken into control as he tried to attack the police who were chasing a group of three suspicious people riding motorcycles.
Police also arrested Santa Lama of Sarlahi and Jiten Lama from Sindhupalchok and impounded two motorcycles.
Mainali said they were involved in different robberies in Kathmandu.
