Eleven-year-old Adya Vaidekhi Sah launched her first book ‘Double Trouble’ at Patan Museum on Saturday. Writing under the pen name, Ginni Pickle, Sah’s book includes tales inspired by her little sister’s shenanigans. The author, who is currently in the sixth grade, loves to write and paint. She also illustrated ‘Double Trouble’ all by herself.
“Growing up, storytelling was a bedtime ritual in my home. Even in preschool, I would spread numerous storybooks on the bed and ask my mother to read them all,” said Sah at the book launch.
Sanjay Kumar Sah, Adya’s father and a dentist, remarked, “It’s our duty as parents to indulge the whims of our children.” ‘Double Trouble’ is a self-published endeavour that Sah began writing when she was 10 years old.
According to the author, the book is humorous and revolves around the life of Jinni. The book launch was hosted by freelance journalist, Bal Mukunda Acharya.
Cardiologist and writer Dr Om Murti Anil attended the event as the chief guest. Other guests present included children’s book authors Nawaraj Rijal and Soina Dahal, and parent coach, educationist and co-founder of Grooming Tales, Mridula Saria.
Sah’s mother, Preeti Mandal, who is also a dentist, said, “The main aim of the book launch is to inspire creativity and inculcate the habit of reading among children.”
